William Paterson University Launches Monthly Entrepreneurs Meetup Series to Strengthen Local Business Community

First event to take place Tuesday, September 30

William Paterson University is launching a new Entrepreneurs Meetup Series, bringing together local entrepreneurs, small business owners, and innovators for monthly gatherings focused on connection, learning, and growth. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the University’s Center for Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CSREI), the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at William Paterson University, and the Passaic County Department of Economic Development.

The first meetup, scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at 8:30 a.m., features Matthew Sklar, partner at McCarter & English, presenting on “Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property in the Age of AI” — a timely topic in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

The series was developed in response to a growing demand among regional entrepreneurs for consistent networking and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Each session will feature a subject matter expert or seasoned entrepreneur sharing insights, lessons learned, and actionable strategies.

“Entrepreneurs thrive when they’re part of a community,” says Sarbjeet S. Rayat, director of CSREI. “Our mission is to help bold ideas become real-world solutions that advance profit, people, and planet. This series creates a space where entrepreneurs can connect, learn from one another, and openly share both successes and challenges.”

Melissa Rosario, Regional Director of NJSBDC at William Paterson University, adds: “Our network of consultants and experts covers business planning, marketing, finance, HR, and more. This network will be an integral part of the series, providing attendees with ongoing support and guidance beyond the meetups. Whether you’re just starting out or scaling up, there’s something here for everyone.”

“Passaic County is full of entrepreneurial energy, and we are proud to support initiatives that connect and empower local business owners,” says Pasquale “Pat” Lepore, director of the Passaic County Board of Commissioners. “When our entrepreneurs thrive, our communities thrive. This meetup series is part of our broader effort to strengthen local entrepreneurship and economic development.”

Meetups will be held at William Paterson University’s Cotsakos College of Business, located at 1600 Valley Road, Wayne, on the last Tuesday of every month.
