50 Alumni Under 50: Eleanor Anderson, MFA ‘18

Major: Art

Current Title: Creative Director, AlensiaXR

Eleanor Anderson is the creative director at AlensiaXR. The exclusive provider of the HoloAnatomy® learning platform—pioneered by Case Western Reserve University—AlensiaXR leverages mixed-reality technology to revolutionize anatomical training and education. As creative director, Eleanor is responsible for creative direction across product development, as well as outlining processes and workflows to increase efficiency and adhere to design best practices. She also contributes hands-on to 3D art production and UI/UX design, collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure anatomical accuracy of the company’s asset library, and works across the engineering and art teams to align on goals. Prior to joining AlensiaXR, Eleanor worked for five years as a designer and 3D generalist at RealizedCare (formerly BehaVR), a leader in building immersive digital therapeutics. During her time there, she prototyped interactions, designed experiences, and created storyboards, models, textures, animations, and VFX for a range of products.

Proudest Professional Accomplishment: “Transitioning into my role as creative director at AlensiaXR is one of my proudest professional achievements. I love being an artist, but I have always gravitated toward the design side of product development as well. I’m excited to continue my professional growth in this new role, and to be involved in this next life cycle of HoloAnatomy—a truly incredible application of AR/MR technology. Another one of my proudest achievements was working on the early access release of First Resort during my time at RealizedCare. First Resort—a virtual reality mental wellness application—was nominated as a finalist for Best Health Game by Games for Change 2023. I was the lead designer on the product and was responsible for translating complex therapy techniques into a series of core interactive activities. This project and its mission were very close to my heart, and I’m extremely proud of what our team built.”

WP Pride. “I went into the MFA program at William Paterson with a foundation in drawing and painting, having previously received my BFA in illustration at RIT. While at WP, I expanded into new territories and explored a wide range of both traditional and digital artmaking techniques. I went in without knowing exactly what I wanted to focus on, but after my first year in the program, it became very clear to me that 3D art and animation was my path. I believe my thesis project in particular —a short animated film called Carnival Entropic—was instrumental in my development as a visual storyteller, as I was able to fully immerse myself in all stages of computer animation and film production. I could not have completed this project, and would not be where I am today, without the support, guidance, and encouragement of many staff members and fellow students at WP.”
