The Golden Gays Musical Drag Troupe to Present “The Case of the Libertine Belle” on October 25

The hilarious camp troupe, the Golden Gays Musical Drag Troupe, will present their musical take on a famous episode of the Golden Girls TV show, “The Case of the Libertine Belle,” on Wednesday, October 26, 2023 at William Paterson University in Wayne.

The performance, part of the University’s WP Presents! series, will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the She Center for Performing Arts on campus. General admission is $10; tickets are free for William Paterson students, faculty, staff, and alumni with a valid ID.

In “The Case of the Libertine Belle” a weekend of murder and mystery turns fatal. Golden Girls pals and confidantes Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose must try to solve a murder and find Sophia. Is Blanche the suspect of a “real” murder? Their musical take features parodies from Footloose the Musical, Elvis, Doris Day, and even a disco finale.

The Golden Gays formed in 2017 and have been delighting crowds all over the U.S. and in the middle of the ocean ever since. Originally created by Andy Crosten, Gerry Mastrolia, Jason B. Schmidt, and Mason Griffin, the Golden Gays set out to create Golden Girls musicals they would want to see on the stage.
