WP Professor Babita Srivastava Awarded Grant to Research the Infection and Mortality Rate of COVID-19 in Women in India

Babita Srivastava, an adjunct professor in William Paterson University’s Cotsakos College of Business, has been awarded the William R. Waters Research Grant to research the infection and mortality rate of COVID-19 in women in India.

“Women in India are dying of COVID-19 at a disproportionate rate,” says Srivastava, an economics professor. The goal of her research is to verify the data, gather more specifics, and form an actionable plan on next steps to help reduce the infection and mortality rate in Indian women caused by the pandemic.

Srivastava is an advisor for the Research, Scholarship and Creative Expression Council at William Paterson and has been an educator for more than ten years. She received her graduate degrees from the University of Allahabad and Harvard Business School.

The William R. Waters Research Grant was established in 1999 in honor of William R. Waters, editor of the Review of Social Economy for many years and president of the Association for Social Economics in 1987.
