William Paterson University was one of 30 schools invited to attend TD Ameritrade’s National LINC (Learn, Inspire, Network, Collaborate) Conference 2020 for registered investment advisors, held this January in Orlando, Florida. Two students from each institution attended the conference.
Michele Boyle of Pompton Plains and Gianfranco Gonzales Lopez of Fair Lawn, financial planning majors and active members of William Paterson’s Financial Planning Club, attended the conference. They were accompanied by Lawrence Verzani, assistant professor of economics, finance and global business, in the University’s Cotsakos College of Business.
The students attended informational sessions about topics such as diversity in the industry, the effect of geo-politics on investments, and charitable giving. They were paired with advisors from their region, and networked with people from all sectors of the industry, including mutual fund companies, insurance providers and software developers. The conference consisted of approximately 3,125 investment advisors, students, faculty, associates and sponsors.
For more than a decade, William Paterson’s financial planning program has been generating buzz in the industry with students attending conferences and garnering top awards in national competitions. William Paterson has been ranked as one of the nation’s top schools for future financial planners by Financial Planning Magazine.
