William Paterson University TV Sports Show Wins Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Award


William Paterson University’s WP Sports Desk won the Best Video Sports Program award for the second year in a row at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System [IBS].  Competition winners were announced during the 79th IBS annual awards ceremony on Saturday, March 2, in New York City.

WP Sports Desk is a weekly half-hour student-produced sports talk show that airs on WPTV and can be accessed at www.wpunj.edu/watchwptv. The specific award-winning episode is located at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMcML051Z0dJSAnS2oJH9KH8s9lbleOKv.

Dante Vocaturo, show host and coordinating producer, was on hand to receive the award. Al Clarke, WPTV studio manager and adjunct professor, is the adviser for the team that includes the following producers: Chris Turner-Demondo, former host and coordinating producer; Jesse Norman, WP Sports; Justin Valentovic, football; Stephen Bologna, baseball; Filip Dimitrovski and Steven Lantigua, basketball; Josh Tritini, hockey; and Alec Roman, soccer. Lindsey Hargrave and Joe Greco serve as director and technical director.

Other IBS winners include, for WPSC 88.7 FM, Best Use of Sound Effects to Brianna Testa, WP 88.7 DJ, for her Metal Mixup Show promo and Best Press Release to Sebastian Escobar ’15, WP 88.7 station manager, for a release regarding the Radio Vieques sister-station relationship.

WPTV and WPSC 88.7 FM were also finalists in: Best College TV Station, Best College Radio Station [more than 10,000 students], Best Video News Report, Best Station Contest/ Promotional Event, Best Video Comedy Program, Best Variety Program, Best TV Talk Program, Best Use of Graphics, Best Use of YouTube, Best On-Air Personality.
