William Paterson University Offers Online Winter Session Courses; Welcomes Visiting Students to Apply and Register

Accelerated Online Winter Session courses will be offered during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2012 to January 14, 2013.

William Paterson University in Wayne will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2012 to January 14, 2013.

More than 70 undergraduate and graduate courses will be available, including courses in art history; communication; music; economics, finance and global business; marketing; management; bilingual education; educational leadership and professional studies; special education and counseling; criminology and criminal justice; English; geography and urban studies; history; languages and cultures; Latin American studies; liberal studies; political science; psychology; sociology; women’s and gender studies; kinesiology; mathematics; physics; and public health.  All courses will be taught online via Blackboard, the University’s online course management system.

“Now in its sixth year, William Paterson’s online winter session continues to expand the diversity of its offerings,” says Stephen Hahn, associate provost.  “It offers students a highly focused learning experience and the opportunity to earn two to four credits in a short period of time.”

Courses are open to William Paterson students as well as students from other institutions. Registration is limited to one course per student; previous experience taking online courses is strongly recommended. Students from other institutions are advised to seek prior approval for courses they wish to transfer back to their home institution for degree credit.

The deadline for visiting students from other colleges to apply is December 11, 2012. Registration for the online winter session continues through December 14, 2012.  A list of course offerings and syllabi is available on the William Paterson website at www.wpunj.edu/winter.  Tuition and fees for undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents are $672 for two credits, $948 for three credits and $1,224 for four credits.  Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students are $1,142 for two credits, $1,653 for three credits and $2,164 for four credits.  Tuition and fees for graduate students who are New Jersey residents are $1,192 for two credits, $1,728 for three credits and $2,264 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state graduate students are $1,878 for two credits, $2,757 for three credits and $3,636 for four credits.

Courses begin December 26 and end on January 14. Library reference assistance will be available by e-mail and by voice mail from noon to 4 p.m. December 26 through January 1 and on January 5-6.  Live chat reference assistance will be available from noon to 4 p.m. when the library is closed during the session.  Beginning on January 2, reference assistance will be available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in person in the library, as well as by phone and e-mail.  Technology support for Blackboard also will be available online with a 24-hour response time except for weekends.
