Nicola Maganuco, who graduated with a bachelor of science degree in finance with a minor in economics, magna cum laude, was named the 2014 “Outstanding Senior” by the William Paterson University Alumni Association.

The award, which has been presented annually since 1962, is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association.  The recipient is selected by the association's executive council based on strong involvement in extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership ability, service to the University, and high academic standing.

During his four years on campus, Maganuco was dedicated to serving the student body.  He was actively involved in the Student Government Association (SGA), serving as freshman class treasurer, executive treasurer, executive vice president, and most recently, president.  Among his accomplishments was a restructuring of the SGA constitution to provide more opportunities for student involvement. He also served on the Senior Class Gift Committee, helping fundraise for student scholarships. Maganuco balanced his extracurricular activities with academic achievement; he received the 2014 Award for Outstanding Senior in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the University’s Department of Economics, Finance and Global Business. While in school, Maganuco worked full-time in banking and gained licensure to sell life insurance and accident and health insurance in New Jersey
