On election night, News 12 covered the election watching party held in White Hall, where nearly 165 students participated in a mock election and watched the incoming returns. News 12 reporter Rick Holmes stayed from 7 until 11 p.m., interviewing Maribel Rodriguez, associate director of Campus Activities, Service and Leadership, who spoke about William Paterson's commitment to civic engagement. News 12 aired numerous live shots throughout the evening to capture student reactions.
Other media coverage included a FiOS1 News report on third graders from Paterson School 12 learning about the electoral process with the help of William Paterson University’s teachers in training. NJTV also covered the story.
Elizabeth Haines, professor of psychology, was interviewed on One-on-One with Steve Adubato, and explained how gender stereotypes affect us at work, in our relationships, and who we vote for.
Post election, Klive Oh, assistant professor in communication, was interviewed for an NJTV News report on the impact of social media on the campaign.
