Investiture Ceremony for President Waldron to Be Held on November 12

The formal investiture of Dr. Kathleen Waldron as the seventh president of William Paterson University will be held on Friday, November 12 on campus. All members of the campus community have been invited to attend.

Preceded by a colorful, traditional academic procession that will begin at the University Commons, the ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Shea Center. It will be followed by a luncheon at the University Commons.

“This is an exciting event for the campus community, and one that is filled with the pageantry of the academy,” says Robert Seal, chief of staff to the president and the board of trustees. “I encourage all faculty and staff to join us as we formally welcome our new president to William Paterson.”

The ceremony will include greetings from speakers representing the state, the academy, the alumni, the faculty, and the students, as well as a keynote speaker. President Waldron will also deliver remarks. Vincent Mazzola ’73, chair of the board of trustees, will confer the presidency on Dr. Waldron, ceremonially presenting her with the president’s robe in the University’s colors of orange and black, the President’s Medal, and the University mace. Musical selections will include two fanfares written for the occasion by Payton MacDonald, assistant professor of music, and David Weisberg, assistant professor of music.
