Membership Criteria*
To become a LSAMP Scholar, you must exhibit the following criteria:
  1. Be an Undergraduate student from an ethnic or racial group that is historically underrepresented in STEM fields (i.e., Black, Native American/Alaskan, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic).
  2. Be a fully enrolled/matriculated student.
  3. Major or intend to major in a STEM field (Approved STEM Majors for NFS Sponsored LSAMP Program).
  4. Be a U.S citizen or permanent resident.


Students are accepted on a rolling basis.

Benefits
  • Faculty-mentored research, including paid summer research opportunities and international experiences.
  • Travel funding to present research projects at conferences, to conduct international research, and/or compete in STEM competitions.
  • Tutoring with Science Enrichment Center (SEC), Mathematics Learning Center (MLC), and Academic Success Center (ASC), or with individual tutors.
  • Workshops to assist with preparing for and applying to graduate school GRE Prep courses and ALEKS Online Course.

To be fully considered an active participant in the program, all LSAMP students should fulfill the following responsibilities:
  1. Academic Performance:
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better
    • Major GPA of 2.8 or better Improvement/Progress
  2. Interest in Program:
    • Application to the GS-LSAMP program (see above)
    • Response to announcements, applications, suggestions
    • Attendance to major related events: As announced in major departments
  3. Science Enrichment Center:
    • Attendance
    • Academic assistance
  4. Communication and Meetings:
    • Periodic contact with GS-LSAMP coordinator (i.e. visit, phone, email, meetings)
    • Monthly GS-LSAMP program meeting with coordinator
    • Monthly meeting with assigned faculty mentor
  5. Internship:
    • Summer Research Internship
    • Internship Final Report
