Two Library Staff Members Assume New Roles

Gary Marks and Leah Marie Zamora assume new postions at the Cheng Library.

Leah Marie Zamora and Gary Marks

Gary Marks accepted a position within the Library as Technical Library Assistant in the Periodicals and Document Delivery Department.  He started his new position on April 6, 2015, and he is responsible for processing interlibrary loan requests submitted to the Library by other libraries and institutions.

Gary has worked at the Library since 1997, and since 2006 he has held the position of Principal Library Assistant in the Lending Services Department where he was primarily responsible for orienting and supervising the student assistants.  Gary is also a graduate of William Paterson University having earned a B.A. in history and political science and an M.A. in public policy and international affairs.  He also completed the Master’s in Library and Information Science at Rutgers University in 2014.

Gary is getting accustomed to his new position and co-workers in the Periodicals and Document Delivery Department.  He commented, “I am excited to learn a new system for interlibrary loan and I enjoy the new environment and my colleagues in the department.”

Reflecting the evolving needs of the Reference Department, the position of Principal Library Assistant, held by Leah Marie Zamora since 2007, was recently reclassified by Human Resources to the title of Library Technician.  As per Civil Service guidelines, Leah applied for the reclassified position, and we are pleased that she accepted and will remain a valued member of the Reference Department.

Congratulations to Gary and Leah!
