Richard Kearney, Electronic Resources Librarian, accepting his award from Taras Pavlovsky, Chair of the VALE Executive Committee.

In recognition of his ten years of service as coordinator of the annual  VALE Users’ Conference, the VALE Executive Committee presented an award to Richard Kearney, Electronic Resources Librarian.

The award was presented at the recent VALE Users’ Conference on January 9, 2015 at Rutgers University. Mr. Kearney has served as chair of the VALE Users’ Conference Committee for a decade.

The annual VALE Users’ Conference attracts more than 300 librarians from the state’s colleges and universities. Over the past ten years, the conference has expanded and now represents the principal annual venue for networking among academic librarians.  The VALE Users’ Conference is renown in New Jersey for its prominent keynote speakers, inventive poster session, and enlightening and informative presentations by librarians. In addition to organizing the event, Richard directed the editing and printing of the conference booklet.  As the committee chair, he also completed countless small tasks.

VALE is the acronym for the Virtual Academic Library Environment, founded in 1998 and first envisioned as a consortium of academic libraries organized for collective purchasing of electronic resources.  The organization has greatly expanded since its inceptions and now includes an executive committee and twelve specialty committees whose members work to advance the missions of academic libraries in New Jersey.

Congratulations to Richard for a well-deserved award!
