Neil Grimes Appointed Education and Curriculum Materials Librarian

Neil is responsible for managing the Curriculum Materials Center and supports the training and preparation of pre-service teachers, future educators, and the academic and scholastic endeavors of faculty members in the College of Education.

Neil Grimes, Education and Curriculum Materials Librarian

Neil Grimes joined the Cheng Library staff in October of 2019 as the Education and Curriculum Materials Librarian. Neil is responsible for managing the Curriculum Materials Center and supports the training and preparation of pre-service teachers, future educators, and the academic and scholastic endeavors of faculty members in the College of Education. As the Education and Curriculum Materials Librarian, his core responsibilities include: providing guidance and assistance to students and faculty in the College of Education and working proactively to identify, find, and promote the effective use of P-12 curriculum resources.

Neil holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from King’s College and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Clarion University. In 2006, Neil began his career in education as a school library media specialist in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Neil has also served as a part-time Research & Scholarly Services librarian at the University of Scranton for over 11 years. Building on his 13 years of service in public education, Neil looks forward to the rewards and challenges of educating future educators and leaders at the University and sharing his experiences as a school librarian, STEM instructor, and social studies teacher.

Neil is eager to provide class, group, and individual instruction in the use of education and K-12 curriculum resources and to collaborate with the College of Education and Cheng Library faculty on instruction and library programming. 

Neil is a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Neil enjoys engaging in outdoor activities, watching the New York Yankees, Notre Dame football, Philadelphia Eagles football, and spending time with family and friends.
