Transitions in the Office of the Dean of the Cheng Library

Paul Glassman, Dean of the Cheng Library, resigns, and Anne Ciliberti is appointed Interim Dean.

Paul Glassman, Dean of the Cheng Library, resigned as of February 13, 2015.  During his tenure at the Cheng Library, Dean Glassman championed many of the Library’s special projects.  He supported the Library’s Digital Archives and was instrumental in approving a new proposal for the digital collection.  He regularly participated at Library events such as his presentation to University alumni at the Cheng Library during Homecoming Weekend on September 21, 2014.

Among the initiatives that interested Dean Glassman was the Library’s new program to establish  liaisons to non-academic departments at the University.  Modeled on the Library’s liaison program to academic departments, this new program seeks to establish a working relationship and productive dialogue with potential users in other University areas.  These relationships will serve to extend the Cheng Library’s services and to connect its current resources with new users across the campus.

Dean Glassman was also interested in the Library’s User Education Program, and he advocated for its mission to encourage students to become life-long learners and discerning users of information.

Anne Ciliberti, former dean, has  agreed to return to the Cheng Library as interim dean until May 31, 2015.  A national search will be conducted for a new permanent dean.
