FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR ELEVATOR PITCH ROUND



What is the Elevator Pitch Round?

All student applicants will be scheduled to do a 60 second elevator pitch plus 2 minutes for question and answer by a panel of 3 judges. Students will get an email that indicates the conference room where their pitch will take place. Students are encouraged to enter the 2014 BCC competition in teams of 3 to 5. Only 1 team member will pitch.


When do the Rounds Take Place?
The EP rounds take place on March 24th and March 25th from 12:30 – 2:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. Students need to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pitch or your application may be disqualified.


Can I pitch more than one business concept?
Yes. A separate application must be completed for each.

When will I know when I am scheduled?
The schedule of 3 minute slots will be emailed on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. You can indicate your preference of a time slot where indicated on the application form.


What is an Elevator Pitch?
It is the chance to state what the student is selling, to whom, why the market is attractive and how large it is, why customers will buy it, and why the team will succeed at this venture. There will be two Elevator Pitch Workshops held at a date to be determined.


Where do the Rounds Take Place?
The locations for the Pitch Round are small conference rooms at 1600 Valley Road. Students will get an email that indicates the conference room where your pitch will take place.


Who will be the judges?
The judges will be comprised of 2-3 individuals who may be business professionals, alumni or faculty from across campus.


Why add an Elevator Pitch in 2014?
The EP round provides students with the opportunity to answer questions that bring out the best in their applications.


Must all students participate in the Elevator Pitch?
Yes. Only one team member will pitch. It is recommended that all team members attend the elevator pitch. However, only the team member making the pitch must attend.


Who will observe the EP?
Only the teams and the judges will be in the room.


When will the BCC finalists be announced?
The BCC finalists will be announced on March 31st
