36th Annual Bilingual/ESL Conference: Undocumented Students and the Stakes of Language

December 02, 2016 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

There are approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US. One million are under 18 and our current or future students in our bilingual and ESL classrooms. This presentation will provide an introduction to these students and their families and address the impact of immigration policies, or their absence.  The realities, challenges and opportunities these students face through high school, college, and beyond will be shown through Living Undocumented, a 17-minute documentary. This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Tatyana Kleyn, an Associate Professor in the Bilingual Education and TESOL programs at the City University of New York. Click here to learn more.
