William Paterson University and New Jersey Theatre Alliance’s Stages Festival Present Peter and The Wolf

The classic tale “Peter and the Wolf” will be performed by the Pushcart Players at the University in Wayne on Saturday, March 2. The performance will be held at 2 p.m. in the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts as part of its “WP Presents!” series.

Tickets are $10 adults and free for children. The production is appropriate for grades Pre-K through 6.

“Peter and the Wolf” is an adaptation of a timeless Russian folk tale. The story follows Peter, a young boy who goes against his grandfather’s orders and wanders into the meadow. Peter is faced with danger and must use his creativity to survive. Every character is introduced and identified with a specific instrument, including the animals that Peter encounters along the way. The show intertwines music, visual effects and adventure in one lively theatrical event.

Pushcart Players is one of the premier theater companies for young and family audiences. It is the recipient of an Emmy nomination for two prime-time specials on WCBS-TV and numerous awards for excellence and innovation in the development of theatre for young audiences. The New Jersey Theatre Alliance is the first statewide arts service organization focused solely on professional theatre. Their Stages Festival, making this performance possible, is a month-long, statewide celebration of theatre and the performing arts.
