This new musical comedy is a microcosm of the loves, beliefs and hardships of everyday life in the saltwater tank. As Marty, the new owner of the micro shrimp kit, follows the steps outlined in instructions, the audience sees the micro shrimp society come alive. Devoted to an unknown deity—a moving light source and a net—the shrimp must endure sibling rivalry, gangs of no-goodniks and ultimately realize their true fate: they are but fish food. Micro Shrimp is a fun, silly and outrageous new musical with tunes that will swim around in your head long after you leave the theatre.

Micro Shrimp is written and composed by Marcus Yi. Originally from Singapore, Yi is an award-winning writer, director and performer now based in New York City. He is the artistic director of Living Room Theater and has worked on more than 100 productions.

This production of Micro Shrimp is directed by Edward Matthews, director and founder of the New Jersey Playwrights Contest. The musical director is Gonzalo Valencia, a William Paterson graduate student. The choreographer is William Paterson alumna Samara Grossman.
