William Paterson University Offers Summer Youth Programs for Middle and High School Students
More than sixty courses and workshops in six weeks offer middle and high school students a chance to explore new interests, learn new skills, and satisfy their curiosity about the world around them during William Paterson University’s Summer Youth Programs to be held on the campus in Wayne from July 1 to August 9.
The program features workshops and courses for the two age groups. An early registration discount of 10 percent for registrations completed before June 13 is currently available. Courses and workshops include the 20th Annual Jazz Workshop; Drawing and Painting with Portfolio Review; Fundamentals of Effective Business Practice: An Introduction to the Principles of Managements; SAT Verbal and Math; Radio Disc Jockey (DJ) and Broadcasting; Writing Institute: Journalism and Fiction; Pre-Law: Anatomy of the Case; and Guitar in Classical, Jazz and Rock.
A Pre-College Program for High School Students immerses students entering grades nine to twelve in a unique university summer experience from July 8 to August 2, 2013. Participants may choose from more than forty exciting programs, and stay in the residence halls or commute. The Pre-College High School workshops give students a sampling of different career possibilities in order to discover their abilities and talents, and explore the career paths that best fit them.
The Middle School Workshops are geared to students entering grades six to eight in September 2013, who may register for any middle school workshop. Workshops are designed to stimulate pre-teen and teen imaginations and creativity. Students can gain insight on a particular subject, and have the opportunity to develop friendships.
The Summer Life on Campus Program is a unique summer day camp for students entering grades six to nine in September 2013. A typical week includes well-supervised enrichment and academic workshops, indoor and outdoor activities using the University facilities, and a weekly field trip. This is an ideal program for working parents who prefer to place their child in a safe, well-managed environment where both academic and recreational activities are offered. The program is scheduled to run Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from July 1 to August 9. Lunch is included.
