William Paterson University to Offer Online Winter Session Courses; Visiting Students Welcome to Apply and Register

Accelerated Online Winter Session courses will be offered during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2013 to January 14, 2014

William Paterson University in Wayne will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2013 to January 14, 2014.

More than 85 undergraduate and graduate courses will be available, including courses in art history; communication; music; economics, finance and global business; marketing; management; bilingual education; educational leadership and professional studies; special education and counseling; criminology and criminal justice; English; geography and urban studies; history; languages and cultures; Latin American studies; liberal studies; political science; psychology; sociology; women’s and gender studies; kinesiology; mathematics; physics; and public health.  All courses will be taught online via Blackboard, the University’s online course management system.

“Now in its seventh year, William Paterson’s online winter session continues to expand the diversity of its offerings,” says Stephen Hahn, associate provost.  “It offers students a highly focused learning experience and the opportunity to earn two to four credits in a short period of time.”

Courses are open to William Paterson students as well as students from other institutions. Registration is limited to one course per student; previous experience taking online courses is strongly recommended. Students from other institutions are advised to seek prior approval for courses they wish to transfer back to their home institution for degree credit.

The deadline for visiting students from other colleges to apply is December 11, 2013. Registration for the online winter session continues through December 13, 2013.  A list of course offerings and syllabi is available on the William Paterson website at www.wpunj.edu/winter.  Tuition and fees for undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents are $700 for two credits, $990 for three credits and $1,280 for four credits.  Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students are $1,194 for two credits, $1,731 for three credits and $2,268 for four credits.  Tuition and fees for graduate students who are New Jersey residents are $1,248 for two credits, $1,812 for three credits and $2,376 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state graduate students are $1,970 for two credits, $2,895 for three credits and $3,820 for four credits.

Courses begin December 26 and end on January 14. Live Chat Reference Assistance is available from noon to 4 p.m. when the Library is closed during the session (12/26 - 1/14).   The Cheng Library building will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, December 21-22, open on Monday and Tuesday, December 23-24, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30pm. The Library will be closed from Wednesday, December 25 through Wednesday, January 1. From Thursday, January 2 until Monday, January 13 the Library will be open weekdays 8:30am-4:30 p.m. and closed weekends. Technology support for Blackboard also will be available online with a 24-hour response time except for weekends.
