Clinical Activities: Observe cooperating teacher teaching, become familiar with school operation, assist with clerical tasks, learn use of AV equipment, work on lesson plans, and work on bulletin board. Begin co-teaching using One Teach, One Observe; Station Teaching; One Teach, One Assist strategies.

 

edTPA – Share with your CE the tasks and terminology of edTPA. Work with your CE to collect recording permission letters.

Provide the clinical intern with textbooks, curriculum guides and materials, and a list of the units of work the student will be teaching. 

 

Assist teacher candidate in accessing necessary information for the Context for Learning

 

Provide teacher candidate feedback on non-edTPA lessons taught using the Guided Questions (see Clinical Experiences Handbook).

 

Assist in communicating with home and securing video permissions.

 

Discuss with teacher candidate when and what subject/class, central focus, and standards, would be appropriate for conducting edTPA learning segment.  (Please reference acceptable and unacceptable edTPA support)

 

Introduce yourself to the cooperating teacher and building administrator sharing information in edTPA and provide privacy protocols.

Clinical Activities: Begin teaching a class. Continue observing and co-teaching with the cooperating teacher, i.e., grading papers, recording grades in grade book. Begin developing lesson plans for a two week unit, etc. May observe other quality teachers in the building.  Increase co-teaching.

edTPA – Write Context for Learning.

Clinical Activities: Increase teaching load and responsibility.  Move to Parallel and Station Teaching in the co-teaching model.

edTPA –Determine what you will be teaching for your Learning Segment during week 4.   Begin writing learning segment (3 – 5 lessons built around a central focus) and seek peer feedback.  Apply feedback provided.  Write Task 1.

Clinical Activities:  Clinical Intern is teaching all day implementing co-teaching methods. The clinical intern performs all teacher responsibilities such as lesson planning and recording grades after co-planning and discussions with the cooperating teacher.

edTPA -  Teach and record your edTPA learning segment (3 – 5 lessons built around a central focus). 

Week 4 - edTPA - Teach and record your edTPA literacy and math learning segment (3 – 5 lessons built around a central focus). 

Week 5 -  edTPA – Complete Task 2 –  select video clip(s) and write commentary.

Week 6 -  edTPA – Complete Task 3.

 

Week 4: Complete PACE Interim Report and Formal Observation in Chalk and Wire.

Clinical Activities:  The clinical intern is taking the lead in the co-planning and co-teaching model and teaching all day and has assumed all responsibilities, e.g., attending faculty meetings, hall supervision, attending parent-teacher conferences.

The cooperating teacher is focusing on struggling students while observing the clinical intern to be assured that all students are learning. The cooperating teacher and clinical intern meet daily to discuss the day's accomplishments, tomorrow's lesson plans, best methods of presentation, areas for improvement, etc.
