Program Completion Options: Four Convenient Choices for Your MBA Study

The Cotsakos College of Business MBA program provides the flexibility to choose the best path to complete your graduate study. Students who wish to complete their degree quickly can take advantage of the full-time and full-time accelerated MBA path. Others who are working full time or have family obligations may find the part-time flex MBA to be a great fit. Those who wish to place themselves on a direct path for graduation within five years can take advantage of the 4+1 option. Additionally, students who wish to enroll in the MBA after transferring from a community college or other university can attain their degree through the 2+2+1 BS/MBA direct path.

Full-Time and Full-Time Accelerated MBA

The full-time or full-time accelerated MBA is designed to help you complete your MBA study quickly while also benefiting from a schedule rotation that allows for flexibility and mobility in your area of concentration.

Under the full-time MBA, you are expected to take an average of three classes or 9 credits in the fall, summer, and spring semesters. If you wish to accelerate your MBA study, you are expected to take courses year round at an advanced pace. This includes summer, fall, winter, and spring courses to complete your required academic program.

Part-Time Flex MBA

The part-time flex MBA allows you to pace yourself while still becoming immersed in your academic studies. The part-time program is recommended for busy professionals who wish to take an average of two classes per semester and aim to complete the program within two to two and a half years. You may choose to accelerate your studies with summer courses as well as a blend of flexible online, hybrid, and weekend courses along with traditional evening courses.

4+1 BS/MBA for Undergraduates

Prospective first-year students who wish to pursue a four-year bachelor of science in business followed by an additional one year of course work to complete the master of business administration must declare their intent upon application to the University. Students already enrolled at William Paterson University with 45 or fewer earned credits may apply to the MBA director for admission to the 4+1 BS/MBA.

Students who complete the courses listed below and earn a minimum GPA of 3.2 at the completion of their BS degree can matriculate seamlessly into the MBA program for their fifth year of courses:

ACCT 2110 Financial Accounting ECON 2010 Macro Economic Principles
ECON 2020 Micro Economic Principles ECON 2100 Business Statistics I
ECON 2110 Business Statistics II FIN 3200 Corporate Finance
MKT 2100 Principles of Marketing MGT 2000 Principles of Management

During their final undergraduate semester, students must also complete a graduate application, submit an updated resume and meet with the MBA director for a GPA and credit review. The GMAT entrance exam is waived for all students who successfully complete these requirements.

Students enrolled in the 4+1 BS/MBA program who do not earn a minimum GPA of 3.2 may still apply for MBA admissions through the traditional MBA application process, which includes submission of GMAT scores.

Students enrolled in this program who complete the eight courses listed above prior to the start of their fourth year and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater at that time may take two graduate level upper core or elective MBA courses as undergraduates. These courses will substitute for 6 credits of free electives within their 120 credit undergraduate degree program and will count towards the remaining 30 credits required for the MBA degree, leaving only 24 credits to complete during year five of the program.

The 2+2+1 BS/MBA Direct Path MBA for Transfer Students

The 2+2+1 program provides a direct path MBA for those who transfer to William Paterson University from a two-year community college. New transfer students who have completed an appropriate two-year associate's degree and wish to complete a bachelor of science degree in business (two years) followed by an additional one year of course work to complete the master of business administration must declare their intent upon application to the University.
