Recent artworks created by 11 William Paterson University art faculty members are featured in Faculty Exhibition 2023 at the University Galleries in the Ben Shahn Center for the Visual Arts on the campus in Wayne from September 5 through September 29, 2023.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. A panel discussion with several exhibiting artists will be held on Wednesday, September 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the South Gallery, followed by an opening reception from 3 to 4 p.m.

On view in the Court Gallery, this exhibition features work by faculty who teach animation, drawing, digital art, graphic design, textile design, painting, photography, and sculpture. The works in the exhibit reveal the faculty’s unique artistic practices as they innovate across diverse media.

Exhibiting artists include Miriam Bisceglia, Eileen Foti, Andrea Geller, Ashley Gerst, Jourmana Jaber, Ahni Kruger, Julie Nagle, Leslie Nobler, Papa Gora Tall, Steve Rittler, and Robin Schwartz.

The exhibition is one of two on view concurrently in the University Galleries. The Universe of Ben Jones, on view from September 5 to December 8, 2023 in the South Gallery and East Gallery, is a retrospective presenting six decades of creative expression by the American artist Ben Jones, a 1963 graduate of William Paterson University and a New Jersey City University professor emeritus of art.  Many of the 28 individual works have rarely been exhibited or are on display for the first time. The exhibition is part of a year-long Mellon Foundation-funded collaboration between William Paterson University and New Jersey City University.

Constellations will be on view October 16 to December 8, 2023 in Court Gallery. This exhibition will feature artworks by 17 artists who have been mentored and influenced by Ben Jones. Their community of practice now extends four decades and thousands of miles beyond the orbit of northern New Jersey—each with their own connection to Jones—working in parallel universes of their own creation.

Faculty Exhibition 2023 is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. The William Paterson University Galleries are wheelchair-accessible. Large-print educational materials are available. For additional information, please call the William Paterson University Galleries at 973-720-2654.
