Information for Transfer and GE Students

For all students

Beginning Fall 2011, the University Core Curriculum (the Core) will be the general education program of William Paterson University for students entering Fall 2011 or later. Here is a link to two tegrity videos ("UCC 101" and "Finding UCC Courses") that will help you navigate the UCC curriculum and find courses. These have been developed by the Career Development and Advising Center.

For Transfer Students

Transfer students need to do the following to satisfy their Core requirement at WPU.

If you are a transfer student with AA or AS degree earned at a New Jersey community college then, then

  1. You have fulfilled your Core requirement at WPU. Make sure that your degree audit shows that you have “Met” Core requirements. If not, talk with your advisor.
  2. You will need to make sure that one of your 3000 level or above courses that you register for at WPU is also designated as Writing Intensive (WI). See “What are Writing Intensive and Technology Intensive requirements?” on FAQ page.

If you are a transfer student without an AA or AS degree, then

  • You will need to review your degree audit to determine how many of your courses have transferred into the Core at WPU. For more details contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office or call 973.720.2125.

For GE Students

Starting Fall 2011, all continuing WPU students who are enrolled in the current GE program can satisfy a GE requirement with an equivalent Core (or UCC) course from the same discipline. Click here for a list of possible courses. Please check with your advisor before registering.
