New Library Electronic Resources for 2023-2024

The Cheng Library is pleased to announce the acquisition of the following new electronic re-sources for the 2023-2024 academic year:

  • Bloom’s Literary Criticism eBook Collection:
    • A set of over 1,180 full-text titles featuring critical assessments of major writers, works, and literary themes, along with critical editions of many literary classics. The collection focuses on novelists, poets, and playwrights, and it includes the series Twentieth Century American Literature, Bloom’s Literary Themes, and Bloom’s How to Write About…. All of the titles in the collection can be accessed through the Cheng Library catalog or through a link to the full collection on the Library's databases directory.
  • Exploring Race in Society:
    • A new database on the EBSCOhost platform offering scholarly perspectives on issues related to race, ethnicity, diversity and inclusiveness. The database is organized into an array of key topics. For each of these, a general overview is pro-vided, along with several essays written by a diverse group of writers representing the fields of academia, journalism, medicine and other disciplines. The essays are supplemented with useful photographs, graphs and charts to provide additional context for each topic. In addition, the data-base provides full-text articles from academic journals, government agency reports, and primary source documents and speeches from BlackPast, a leading source on the African American history and experience.
  • Counseling and Therapy in Video: Classic and Volume III:
    • A database consisting of 815videos focused on counseling ses-sions and covering a wide range of theories and skills, including diverse clients and issues. World renowned therapists such as Al-bert Ellis, Violet Oaklander, Derald Wing Sue, and John Nor-cross demonstrate their methods and techniques for putting theo-retical concepts into practice. The videos provide a firm grounding in the theoretical modalities of counseling and psychotherapy while expanding into new and emerging areas such as social me-dia, veterans, cyberbullying, mindfulness, and neuroscience. Each video is accompanied by a full transcript and instructors wishing to incorporate specific videos from the collection into their courses can easily create links to use in Blackboard or create shorter clips from longer videos using tools available through the data-base.
