On Sunday, January 11, 2026, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., IT/Enterprise Network and Systems Services will be performing an essential firmware maintenance on the University’s IT compute environment infrastructure.
Thanks to the architecture and redundancy of our compute infrastructure, there should be no interruption to any campus system services or resources. Although this is a non-disruptive system maintenance, we want to make our community aware in case of any unforeseen issues.
If you do encounter any issues with access to campus resources either before or after this scheduled maintenance window, please report them as usual to the Helpdesk via Helpdesk ticketing system or 973.720.4357.Thank you.

10:00 a.m. update:The issue below was resolved at approximately 9:15 a.m. It was determined that the university's Internet Service Provider had experienced a temporary outage that was impacting its customers.
Initial:On Friday November 14th at approximately 9:00 a.m., the University's internet connection to and from the campus began experiencing intermittent connectivity issues. This issue will intermittently impact the ability for on-campus devices to access internet-based services (email, Teams, Blackboard, Webex phone calling, etc.) and for off-campus based devices to access campus-network based resources (WPconnect as example).
At this time, IT staff are investigating and the initial assessment is that the issue is a broader issue impacting both the University's Internet Service Provider and other cloud-based services. IT staff are working to get additional information on the outage and expected restoration of service.Thank your patience.Information Technology
