Dear WP Parents, In this special commencement issue of the Parents Association newsletter, we reflect on several highlights that took place during the 2013-2014 academic year. In the fall 2013 semester, the Parents Association received a proposal, submitted by the David & Lorraine Cheng Library, to fund the purchase a book scanner which will impact many students for years to come. The scanner will allow users to scan books or other documents and save to a USB device or directly transfer to a smartphone. This will be a great cost and time saving tool for students. Read the case story written by the book scanner vendor about the success at William Paterson. On May 1, we offered our very first parent webinar, Major Myths and Career Truths, lead by Deborah Sheffield, Senior Academic Advisor at William Paterson University. The webinar focused on career possibilities for various majors and provided insight into what employers are really looking for in a candidate. Click here to view the presentation. We plan to offer more webinars in the future, so please write us if you have ideas for topics. For the grand finale of the spring semester, William Paterson University honored the 2014 graduating class during its 191st commencement ceremony at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford. Click here to view photos and video of our proud pioneers as they shine on this special day. Please contact Rodney Cauthen at 973.720.2897 or parents@wpunj.edu if you are interested in becoming actively involved with the Parents Association.
