November 1, 2018 To the William Paterson University Community: We have learned today of flyers in locations on campus proclaiming "it's okay to be white," similar to messages that have appeared on other college campuses and city streets across the country this week. We have removed the flyers that came to our attention. Based on recent media reports, our preliminary understanding is that these flyers are part of a campaign to feed social unrest and promote white supremacy. This is an abhorrent and cowardly act and does not reflect our values of diversity and inclusion. These moments do not define us, but it is how we respond that demonstrates our character and moral mindset. In that spirit, let us take time to treat each other with kindness during this turbulent time. As always, we want everyone on our campus to feel safe.
