WP Financial Planning Students Meet Finance and Investment Leaders at TD Ameritrade Institution's 2019 National LINC Conference

William Paterson University students Schoenstani Gil of Passaic and Adrian Rodriguez of Paterson were two of 63 financial planning students from 30 colleges and universities who attended TD Ameritrade Institution’s annual investment advisor conference, National LINC (Learn, Inspire, Network, Collaborate) 2019, held from February 6 to 9 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA, along with financial services industry professionals and experts from across the nation

The students were accompanied by Tao Guo, assistant professor of economics, finance and global business in the University’s Cotsakos College of Business.

At this year’s conference, students learned from keynote speakers that included Walter Robb, the former co-CEO of Whole Foods; Martin Eberhard, the founder and former CEO of Tesla; Robert Herjavec, entrepreneur and a leading Shark on ABC’s Shark Tank,and Platon, a world-renowned photographer who has produced more than 20 covers for Time magazine, among others.

The students met William Paterson alumni Vincent Leto ‘97, vice president of institutional sales, TD Ameritrade, and Kelly McNerney ‘14, financial advisor, FJY Financial, who was invited to speak to the NextGen group and provide her career advice. The students also participated in breakout sessions and panel discussions on investing. 

Since its inception in 2009, William Paterson’s financial planning program continues to generate buzz in the industry with students attending conferences and garnering top awards in national competitions. William Paterson has been ranked as one of the nation’s top schools for future financial planners by Financial Planning Magazine.
