The Doo Wop Project to Perform Classic Oldies at William Paterson on November 2 The Doo Wop Project The Doo Wop Project, featuring stars of the Broadway hits Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical, Chazz Palminteri's A Bronx Tale, and more, will take the stage at William Paterson University in Wayne on Saturday, November 2. The performance will be held in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Shea Center Box Office in advance at 973.720.2371 or wp-presents.org. Tickets are $40 for gold circle, $35 for rear orchestra and loge; and $32 for loge. Discounts are available for senior citizens and William Paterson faculty, staff, and students. The Doo Wop Project traces the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. The show takes the audience on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts, and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and the Four Seasons all the way to their versions of modern musicians like Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, and Maroon 5. Among the cast members is Belleville, New Jersey native Dominic Scaglione Jr., who is perhaps best known for his starring role portraying Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway. One of the creators of the Doo Wop Project, Scaglione previously played this leading role in the Las Vegas and Chicago companies. He performed on The Oprah Winfrey show and was personally asked by Frankie Valli to sing at his New Jersey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Early on in his career, Scaglione was a member of Sony Music group Sygnature and toured with Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé, Robin Thicke, and Boyz 2 Men. Other notable members of the group include Dominic Nolfe and Charl Brown who are no strangers to New Jersey. Nolfe performed in world premiere productions of Jersey Boys and Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale at Paper Mill Playhouse. He is currently performing in the Broadway production of Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale. Brown, who starred in the world premiere production of Ever After at Paper Mill Playhouse, is best known for originating the role of Smokey Robinson in Motown: The Musical which garnered him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
