William Paterson University is First Institution in New Jersey to Support Reverse Transfer Initiative that will Grant Associate Degrees to Community College Transfer Students

William Paterson University is the first New Jersey state institution to join the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Reverse Transfer Initiative, which allows students to take credits from their four-year institution and apply them to their community college degree.

“We look forward to streamlining the reverse transfer process and assisting our community college partners in awarding more associate degrees to students,” says Patrick Noonan, director of Transfer Programs and Special Sessions at William Paterson.

Transferring credits from the university level to the local community college has an array of advantages. Students may be able to finish their associate degree while they are pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

William Paterson has signed Reverse Transfer Agreements with seven community colleges: Bergen Community College, County College of Morris, Mercer County Community College, Passaic County Community College, Raritan Valley Community College, Union County College and Warren County Community College.
