Counseling

The University’s Counseling, Health, and Wellness Center can provide free counseling services for students who experience emotional and mental distress related to immigration issues. The Counseling Center is staffed with psychologists, social workers, a psychiatrist consultant and supervised graduate students.

Financial Aid

New Jersey Dream Act
Undocumented students who meet certain criteria qualify for the in-state tuition rates at all of New Jersey’s public institutions of higher education (Statute P.L. 2013, c.170). For more information about qualifying for in-state tuition under the Tuition Equality Act, also known as the New Jersey Dream Act, contact the Financial Aid Office.

Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA)
On May 9, 2018, Governor Murphy signed legislation that makes New Jersey state financial aid available to eligible undocumented students in New Jersey. The New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application allows undocumented students in eligible New Jersey colleges and universities to apply for state financial aid.

Safe Space Faculty

The following faculty are members of the Committee to Support Undocumented Students and Workers at William Paterson University. They have agreed to provide a safe space and support for undocumented students confidentially. They will listen to your concerns and assist in finding resources. Professors cannot provide legal advice or psychological counseling; however, they will be able to provide information about available services.
