William Paterson University’s School of Continuing and Professional Education helps high school students explore and prepare for careers through the Professional Certificate Program. Our goal is to expose high school students to various career opportunities through in-class learning and real world, hands-on experiences. We work with districts to provide courses for groups of students as well as individuals seeking certifications privately. For more information about the program, please contact Youth Programs at youthprograms@wpunj.edu or 973-720-3804. Industry Professional Certificate Programs The Industry Professional Certification courses are designed to enhance a student’s resume and offer an opportunity for students to gain entry-level jobs in the industry and enter directly into the workplace after high school graduation. The school district board of education reserves the right to approve all professional certifications. High School students who have met their graduation requirements as required by the school district can earn a career industry certificate in the field of healthcare, childcare, and technology. We offer these programs in the school district or onsite at William Paterson University during the school day, summer break, Saturdays or after school based on the school district agreement. Several of our courses require in-person learning. We have adapted the program during COVID-19 by offering introductory courses that lay the foundation for the in-person certification courses. Students can take these introductory courses to learn about their desired career field and begin building the knowledge and learning-hours needed to receive the certification. Once we are able to offer in-person programming, students will meet with the instructor for any credentialing that it required. New this semester are our asynchronous classes that students can complete at their own pace. You can find the full list of asynchronous class offerings by clicking the Register Now button.
