Covid-19 Health and Safety Information

This site includes information and resources for the William Paterson University community regarding COVID-19 health and safety, including campus communications, campus operations, health and prevention, and other topics. We are following guidance from the CDC, the State of New Jersey, and local public health agencies regarding the response to COVID-19, which is coordinated by the University's COVID Response Team. The team is co-chaired by the Director of Counseling, Health, and Wellness and the Director of Public Safety and University Police, and includes representatives from a wide range of campus offices.

Fall 2022 Semester

The Fall 2022 semester begins on Thursday, August 25, 2022. The University will provide on-campus instruction, as well as a mix of online and hybrid courses. Campus life will feature primarily in-person programs and events and in-person interactions with peers, faculty, and staff. The Office of Residence Life will offer a traditional occupancy model. Student support services will be offered both in person and remotely. The University continues to adhere to all state and federal guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work and learning environment.

Health and Safety Protocols

All students, as well as all employees, are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Those with approved medical or religious exemptions may be subject to regular COVID-19 testing.

COVID vaccine boosters are not being required at this time; however, they are strongly encouraged for everyone who is eligible to receive them.

WP has partnered with St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center for off-campus testing for our community members at their drive-in testing center at St. Joseph’s Wayne, located adjacent to the campus and accessible via University Drive. PCR tests are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; please bring the St. Joseph's Referral Form to identify you as a member of our community. For more information, visit St. Joseph's COVID Testing

A WP COVID Testing Portal has been established to help streamline contact tracing and notifications. All student and employees will have access to their own portal and can upload their test results.

As of Fall 2022, the University is a mask-friendly campus. Masks are still required for all in the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center. All individuals who are exposed to COVID-19 will be required to wear masks in all indoor spaces for 10 days post-exposure. The masking policy is subject to change depending on conditions in the community.
