The Cotsakos College of Business uses Facebook to post Professional Enrichment workshops and other special events. For a variety of reasons, especially privacy concerns, some students don't have Facebook accounts, and we understand! For those of you who simply don't want to maintain a Facebook profile or are concerned about personal privacy, you can still create a Facebook account and then lock it down. This way, you'll still be able to register for events without dealing with a public profile. Privacy Settings First, go to Facebook, create an account, and then sign-in. To secure privacy settings, click the arrow in the top right of the page, next to the question mark icon. Select “settings.” In the settings page, choose “privacy” on the left-hand column. This will bring up a number of options that can be set to ensure strict privacy, including disabling friend requests and ensuring the account doesn’t show up in search engines. Other Alternatives While it only takes a few minutes to set up a private Facebook account, if you still do not want to use Facebook, you can register to attend events by emailing email@example.com. Be sure to include the name, date, and time of the event in your email!
