The Father of Modern Merengue Johnny Ventura brings his unique brand of merengue to the Shea Center. Throughout his artistic life that spans more than five decades, Ventura has performed all over the world and received the highest honors from countries throughout the western hemisphere. Considered the most prolific Dominican artist, and named “Merengue Artist of the Century” by the Dominican Congress, his repertoire includes twenty-eight Gold Records, two Platinum Albums, a Latin Grammy in 2004 and a Grammy of Excellence in 2006.
