Happy New Legacy!

Greetings! I want to take this time to wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year!

At this time of year I’m reminded of one constant that we all share- and that’s time. Time goes by whether we want it to or not. When you were in college, your ‘future’ consisted of graduating, getting a good job and possibly buying a new or newer car. I doubt the year 2017 was any part of your future planning, but yet, here it is. In fact, I remember the year 2000 as being the year we would all be flying around in personal space crafts and flying machines!

Why all this talk about the future? Because I would like you to consider your role in the future- now!

In simple terms, a ‘legacy’ is a person’s ‘leave behind gift’ to benefit future generations. As parents and grandparents, your legacy includes your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. In 2017, I would ask you to consider another legacy that you may not have thought of in the past. Your legacy for future students at William Paterson University. You managed to raise a family, have a successful career and planned for your future as a result of the education you received at William Paterson.

Your legacy at William Paterson can be created simply by establishing an annual (yearly) or endowed (in perpetuity) scholarship that will help future generations of students obtain their goal of a quality education. Another legacy opportunity is to include a bequest to William Paterson in your Will. A few sentences added to your existing Will will have an immense positive impact on the lives of future students.
