LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning - and today, LGBTQ people are more and more visible in the media. What is the difference between sex and gender? What does transgender and cisgender mean? What does it mean when someone is "queer?"

Sam DeMuro is an educator interested in social change through storytelling. She has worked as a communications professional, educator, counselor, and workshop trainer in higher education, nonprofit, and public health fields for 10+ years. Her expertise includes writing, editing, teaching, social media and community engagement, grant management, and youth enpowerment. She currently works as an Online Marketing Coordinator, managing social media communications for William Paterson University.
