At William Paterson University we have a long-standing commitment to diversity; this commitment is part of our mission, vision, and core values. Our faculty and students, who are among the most diverse in New Jersey, have always reflected the diversity of our region, which is ever changing and evolving. I am proud that our recent designation as a Hispanic-serving institution by the United States Department of Education is the subject of the cover story in the October 26, 2015 issue of Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education. William Paterson University has a long tradition of educating first-generation college students, many of immigrant parents, to become active and engaged citizens of our state and nation. Becoming a Hispanic-serving institution is another example of the diversity we proudly seek among our students, faculty, and staff. Sincerely, Kathleen Waldron, President
