University Core Curriculum (UCC) presents

The 2nd UCC Summer Institute

About the Institute

The UCC Summer Institute 2012 will provide faculty the opportunity to focus on course development for the UCC.  Special focus will be on those areas that require some urgent attention—Writing Intensive, Technology Intensive, and offerings for Area V Community and Civic Engagement.

Faculty interested in knowing more about the UCC – e.g., its mechanics and dynamics, who are preparing to teach UCC courses for the first time, who need help in working through any SLOs (all areas), or help in uploading courses, may contact either Kathy Malanga or Jean Levitan, UCC Council Co-Chairs, throughout Summer 2012.

Who Should Attend

  • Faculty from any department who plan to offer WI or TI courses
  • Faculty working on new courses for Area 5 – Community and Civic Engagement

Full-time faculty will be compensated at the negotiated rate for workshop participation.

Tentative Schedule

9.00-9.30 a.m.                       Breakfast and Orientation

9.30 – 12:30                         Concurrent Workshops

  • Writing Intensive course development and pedagogy
  • Technology Intensive course development and pedagogy
  • Area 5 (Community & Civic Engagement) course development and pedagogy

12:30– 1.00 p.m.                   Lunch and Discussion
