Dear Alumni,
On behalf of the entire William Paterson University community, I hope you and your loved ones came through the storm with little damage and that all of you are safe. I realize many people in the tri-state area remain without power while others have serious damage to their homes and properties. Our thoughts are with you. If there is anything we can do for you, please contact the Alumni Office at 973-720-2175 or alumni@wpunj.edu.
The University lost power for five days until it was restored early Sunday morning, allowing us to reopen for classes on Monday November 5th. Fortunately, the campus sustained little damage and the nearly 600 students who remained on campus were safe and well-fed. We owe a tremendous thanks to our staff, many of whom remained throughout the storm to safeguard our students and our campus. The students, as always, were of good spirit throughout the storm and its aftermath and I could not be more proud that many already have started volunteering in Wayne to distribute food, water, and other supplies to those in need. In the days ahead, we will encourage our student clubs, sports teams, and groups to volunteer and assist our community as they usually do when a crisis arises. As many of you know, citizenship and civic engagement are core values of our strategic plan as well as essential components of our curriculum. It is a pleasure to see the students, faculty and staff fully engaged.
We wish you a speedy recovery from any damage and hope that power and gas will soon be fully restored.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Waldron
President
