Assessment Part III – Portfolio Development

  1. Portfolio development occurs throughout the student's educational career at William Paterson University.

  2. The concept of the portfolio is introduced in the Freshman Seminar: how to develop it, what its purpose is, and what to include.

  3. The Department of the student's major is responsible for evaluating the portfolio, separate from the advisement process, and to tie the development of the portfolio to a capstone concept/experience where possible.

  4. Released time will be granted for the supervision of portfolio development (to be negotiated with the AFT).

  5. There is the possibility of offering three credits to students over four to five years for the purpose of portfolio development.

  6. There will be a two year transition to full implementation by the year 2002.
