FACULTY SENATE GRADUATE COUNCIL
REPORT ON THE REVIEW OF THE GRADUATE EDUCATION
TASK FORCE REPORT
The Task Force on Graduate Education report contained recommendations on twelve areas relating to graduate education. The Provost accepted and acted upon six of these:
- Graduate Program Directors Council (Item 3)
- Director of Graduate Services (Item 4)
- Graduation Requirements (Item 6)
- The Graduate Program Director (Item S)
- New Program Development and Approval Process (10)
- Center For International Programs (Item 12)
Further study was suggested concerning recommendations dealing with:
- Admission and Matriculation Standards (Item 5)
- Standards for Graduate Faculty (Item 7)
- Graduate Students' Advisement (Item 9)
- Recruitment (Item 11)
The Graduate Directors Council and this Council are currently addressing these issues, with the exception of those aspects of the "Standards for Graduate Faculty" dealing with compensation and faculty load, which are administration-union issues.
Two areas were dealt with by administrative actions:
- New Graduate School (Item 1)
- Associate Provost for Graduate Education (Item 2)
