  Study groups are scheduled at specific times and are subject-specific.
Drop In:
 
Academic assistance with a tutor or use of the SEC's resources without an appointment.
 
Advantage:
 
  • Students can drop in at any time for assistance or resources.
 
Disadvantage:
 
  • Students requesting a tutor may have a wait for an available spot. Study Groups
    usually occupy most of the time slots.
 
Dial a Question:
 
Students can phone in a question.
 
Advantage:
 
  • Quick and easy
 
Disadvantage:
 
  • If all the tutors are with a study group, the student may have to call back

Online Tutoring:
 
Advantages:
 
  • Accomodates individuals who work, have children, travel long distances, or cannot come onsite for other reasons
  • Can get assistance at home, at a mutually convenient time
 
Disadvantage:
 
  • Some individuals work best face-to-face
 
Post a Question:
 
Students are invited to post their questions by subject on the SEC Blackboard Discussion board.
 
Advantage:
 
  • Students can post questions at their convenience.
  • Other students can view and contribute to the question or response.
 
Disadvantage:
 
  • There is a minimum 24 hour waiting period for a response.
