Institutional Scholarships
Awarded by the Undergraduate Admissions Office
William Paterson University has a generous $7 million scholarship program, which includes merit-based awards to new students, as well as scholarships to currently enrolled students through the William Paterson University Foundation and Alumni Association. All admitted new freshman and transfer applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships and no separate application is required. Awarded recipients will be notified after admission to the University. Detailed description outlining criteria, deadline, and supporting documentation can be found on the Admissions Office web page under Scholarships for First-year and Transfer Students.
For priority consideration, all supporting documents must be received by February 15 for Fall Semesters and November 1 for Spring Semesters. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Spring scholarships are subject to available funding; contact the Admissions Office after October 1 for availability.
All scholarship recipients are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1, and must accept all need-based financial aid. Need-based aid will be determined after submission of your FAFSA. The University reserves the right to rescind your scholarship award if you fail to file the FAFSA. There are no exceptions.
High achieving students interested in the University Honors College must complete a separate application. Visit the Honors College website for details about the program and to apply.
