To the William Paterson University Community
As the campus is aware from previous communications, Kris Cohen, vice president for enrollment management, is leaving William Paterson University and moving with her family to North Carolina. She has accepted a position as a consultant for Credo, a firm that specializes in strategic planning and enrollment management. Kris made a great contribution to William Paterson University during her three-year tenure. She significantly changed our outreach to prospective high school students, increasing the number of freshman applicants by over 25 percent in the last two years. She recruited a freshmen class of nearly 1,400 students while at the same time improving the overall quality of the class and maintaining its diversity. Kris overhauled our scholarship system so that this year, more students with need will receive financial aid. She also introduced new scholarships for freshmen moving to their sophomore year with GPAs of 3.0 or above and completing 30 credits. Kris also expanded the emphasis on graduate admissions with good results and built the one-stop office to better serve students, significantly improving student satisfaction with administrative offices. Her clear reporting and consistent use of data have improved our knowledge of student admissions, retention, and financial resources. We are grateful for all she has done and wish her well in her next position and move to North Carolina.
The University began a search this spring and within a couple of weeks we will have candidates on campus for interviews. I thank the Search Committee for its efforts and look forward to a good result shortly.
Since Kris' last day in the office will be May 30, 2014 and to ensure an orderly transition, effective June 1, 2014, I am asking Ken Schneider, director of student enrollment services, and Jonathan McCoy, executive director of enrollment management and technology, to report directly to me until such time as a new vice president is in office. Both Jonathan and Ken are seasoned enrollment management professionals and will take over all administrative functions of the division until further notice. I have asked Amo Kubeyinje, Director of graduate admissions and Rohan Howell, director of undergraduate admissions to report to Jonathan McCoy. I have also asked Michael Corso, director of financial aid, and Nina Trelisky, registrar to report to Ken Schneider during this interim period. In addition, Candice Perez will report to Ken Schneider while the division is in transition.
Again, we wish Kris well and thank Ken and Jonathan for their additional support.
