To the William Paterson University Community
Re: New Vice President for Institutional Advancement
I am pleased to announce that I will recommend to the Board of Trustees the appointment of Pamela L. Ferguson as the University’s new Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She will join the University on August 1, 2011.
Pam comes to William Paterson from Seton Hall University where she has worked since 2006. She presently is the Associate Vice President for Development responsible for managing a development team of twenty-six individuals, including principal gifts, major gifts, annual fund programs, planned giving, advancement operations, donor relations, prospect management, and development research. In this capacity, Pam has worked closely with the Board of Regents of Seton Hall University, as well as with the academic deans and the executive cabinet of the institution. Prior to assuming that position, she was the Senior Director of Principal and Major Gifts at Seton Hall, and before that, Director of Major Gifts at Seton Hall. Pam also worked as Director of Advancement at the Bishop O’Connell School in Arlington, Virginia, and the Director of Special Programs at the Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Pam holds a B.A. in history and German from SUNY Binghamton.
At Seton Hall, she and the advancement team completed a major campaign that surpassed its goal of $150 million. This year, her team raised more than $12 million for the university. The strength of Pam’s background in several critical areas of Institutional Advancement will be a major benefit to William Paterson, and we look forward to Pam’s leadership of our Advancement team, close cooperation with all parts of the campus community, and leadership of the Foundation.
I wish to thank the Search Committee for all its hard work. It received more than fifty applications and narrowed the search to four finalists who visited the campus in May for daylong interviews. I also want to thank the Foundation Board Chair, Michael Seeve, for his participation, as well as the Cabinet, the academic deans, and the members of the Institutional Advancement and Marketing and Public Relations teams.
To help focus the Advancement efforts, I am making one organizational change to the Division. Stuart Goldstein, who has been Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement, and his team will now report directly to the President. Stuart joined the President’s Cabinet last September to ensure that the Public Relations area is kept abreast of campus events and to ensure the appropriate media coverage. Stuart will now be the Associate Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations and continue to lead the institution’s marketing and public relations efforts. Pam will report directly to the President, be a part of the Cabinet of the University, and will join the Strategic Planning Steering Committee. She will also serve as President of the William Paterson University Foundation.
Please welcome Pamela Ferguson to William Paterson University.
