To the William Paterson University Community

Due to the extraordinary flooding that has disrupted lives and hindered transportation throughout our region, we have decided to delay the first day of classes from Thursday, September 1, to Tuesday, September 6. Classes will begin with a regular Tuesday schedule. THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1; FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2; SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3; SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4; OR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5.

In the meantime, the campus is open and fully functional with all regular activities other than classes going forward as scheduled and all offices in full operation with normal working hours. All faculty and staff are expected to follow ordinary working hours for the rest of the week.

We have extended the schedules for students to check in to the residence halls. Students can check in today, August 30, until 10 p.m., tomorrow, August 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, September 1, and Friday, September 2, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Monday, Labor Day, September 5, from noon to 4 p.m.

Our dining facilities for resident students are fully operational this week and throughout the weekend, as originally scheduled.

I sympathize with the inconveniences that so many of you have faced in travelling to and from our campus. I greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we work our way through this challenging week. Fortunately, the campus is safe and sound and operating as already scheduled with a full range of activities in place this week and throughout the weekend for students who are on campus.

Please continue to check the University home page for updates.
