To the William Paterson University Community

This morning, Monday, August 29, we received notice that a contractor working on a renovation to the road that connects Lot 6 to the Science Hall East and West buildings damaged a natural gas line. As a precaution, students, faculty and staff in several buildings on the main campus were temporarily evacuated. PSE&G was on the site immediately, sealed the leak and repaired the gas line. Students in the residence halls for various functions, including athletes on campus for pre-season practices, will be safely back in their buildings at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Thank you to everyone on campus for your responsiveness, support, and patience.

I am pleased to report that we are on schedule and ready to welcome students and families Tuesday, August 30, when check-in for the residence halls begins. All campus offices, academic and other buildings, will be open as usual and all events scheduled for Tuesday will take place as originally scheduled.

Sincerely,
